Co-stars Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo AND Blythe Danner they are in early talks to return to theirs Meet the parents franchise for a new film, in development at Universal Pictures.
John Hamburgwho co-wrote all three previous films in the series and produced the most recent, Little Fuckersis preparing to write the screenplay and it is not yet known who will direct. Plot details on what will be the fourth film in the series are being kept within the circle of confidence.
Jane Rosenthal and De Niro will return to produce through Tribeca Productions Jay Roach – who directed the first two films and produced all three previous installments – through Delirious Media.
Stiller and John Lesher will also produce through Red Hour Films. Executive Vice President of Production Development Matt Reilly and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garrell will oversee the project for the studio.
Meet the parents centers on the hilarious, awkward, and tension-filled dynamics between nurse Greg Focker (Stiller) and his intimidating, ex-CIA father-in-law Jack Byrnes (De Niro), watching as the dynamic between them evolves and stays the same. , as Greg marries Jack’s daughter Pam (Polo) and has children with her.
Also a main cast member, Danner plays Jack’s wife, Dina. While Dustin Hoffmann AND Barbra Streisand he also appeared in several films as Greg’s parents, Bernie and Roz – along with Owen Wilson as Pam’s ex-boyfriend Kevin, it’s not yet clear whether they will return.
I would love to see these actors return for a new film Meet the parents movie! I just hope the script is as strong as the first two films and tells a better story than the third film.
