Fans got their first look at DC’s opening logo ahead of the debut of Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Storywith a classic comic book style Superman breaking through a series of chains and taking a hands on hips position.
The central circle featuring the superhero turns to reveal the DC logo. It’s understated, but interesting, and left fans wondering whether the simple introduction would stay the same or change from project to project depending on the characters featured in the film or show.
Then one fan took to social media platform Bluesky to ask James Gunnwho has historically been very open with fans about DC’s logo plan.
The fan said: “I was surprised to see Superman’s DC ID at the beginning. All DC material will use Superman’s ID or the character depicted will change based on [the] project?” Gunn replied, “He’s our MGM lion. Usually it will be him.”
It makes sense to build this new world around Superman. I can’t wait to see what Gunn does with the character and all the new stories he’s tackling at DC.
Superman stars David Corenswet in the role of Superman, Rachel Brosnahan lead to Superman and Lois Lane, Nicola Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaioas Eva Teschmacher; AND Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
