Maika Monroe (Long legs) will be the protagonist of a new horror film titled Brideswhich will be directed by Chloe Okunowho had previously worked with Monroe on the thriller Watcher.
The film is set in 1960s Italy and Monroe will play the role of Sally Bishop. The story follows her and her husband as they travel to a remote mansion following Sally’s nervous breakdown.
“The owner of the villa, a mysterious count, has a particular interest in Sally. But she gets more than she bargained for when Sally’s feminist chaos is added to her perfect, violent Eden of vampire brides.
The film is described as a “gothic, fascinating and bloody” tale that will “turn Bram Stoker’s narrative on its head, exploring the struggle between social repression and carnal desire”.
Producer Anthony Bregman said in a statement: “Brides is set to redefine the horror genre with Choe Okuno’s unique blend of feminist themes and gory imagery.
“The script is dynamic and disturbing in the best way. Chloe always brings so much fear and complexity to her characters, and we can’t wait to work with her and Maika to bring Sally to life or undeath, as the case may be.”
This sounds like an interesting horror movie project and I hope the creative team ends up making a really good and scary vampire horror movie!
