Intense SEPTEMBER 5 trailer focuses on the horrific events of the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming drama thriller September 5thcentered on the ABC Sports broadcast team during the horrific and tragic events of the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics.

This is the story of when the Palestinian terrorist group, known as Black September, took the entire Israeli Olympic team hostage in Munich. It seems like an incredibly intense and emotional film.

The synopsis reads: “September 5th reveals the defining moment that changed media coverage forever and continues to influence live news today.

“Set during the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics, the film follows an American sports television team that quickly adapts from sports reporting to live coverage of Israeli athletes taken hostage.

“Through this lens, September 5th provides a new perspective on the live broadcast seen globally by approximately one billion people at the time.

“At the center of the story is Geoff (Giovanni Magaro), a young and ambitious producer trying to prove himself to his boss, the legendary television executive Roone Arledge (Peter Sarsgaard).

“Together with the German interpreter Marianne (Leonie Benesch) and his mentor Marvin Bader (Ben Chaplin), Geoff unexpectedly takes the helm of the live broadcast.

“As narratives change, time marches on and conflicting rumors spread, with the hostages’ lives hanging in the balance, Geoff grapples with difficult decisions as he grapples with his own moral compass.”

September 5th is directed by Tim Fehlbaum, with a screenplay he wrote with Moritz Binder.
