Hasbro Entertainment launches Unscripted TV division led by Tony Zach Edwin of Sony Pictures TV

Hasbro Entertainment has launched an unscripted television division, which will be led by a newly hired development executive and producer Zach Edwin.

Edwin joins Hasbro after most recently working for Intellectual Property Corporation, a part of Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction.

The unscripted division already has numerous projects in production and others in development across various networks. Among the titles in production are adaptations of the “Trivial Pursuit” game show hosted by LeVar Burton and “Scrabble” hosted by Raven-Symoné.

Both programs were developed in collaboration with Lionsgate with creative input from Hasbro’s Steven Gelberg and will premiere on the CW on October 3.

Additionally, Hasbro is working on television formats involving the Monopoly and Nerf brands and a reimagining of the board game Clue in collaboration with SPTNF.

In his new role, Edwin will oversee the expansion of Hasbro’s unscripted program, as well as its partnerships with Lionsgate and other talent, studios and distributors.

Gabriel Marano, head of TV, said in a statement: “Hasbro Entertainment is committed to working with the best in the industry to bring our beloved and iconic brands to life. Zach is an excellent person to help us build an unscripted division befitting Hasbro’s iconic history and portfolio.

“He brings to the screen extensive experience managing major unscripted projects for top partners. With numerous major projects on the way, we look forward to delighting broad audiences with shows as fun and exciting as the worlds they draw from.”

Edwin added: “Hasbro Entertainment is positioned to be a true leader in the unscripted industry, brandishing an extraordinary collection of historic and globally renowned brands to create high-quality content for audiences around the world.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with Gabe and the rest of the Hasbro Entertainment team, as well as top-tier partners like Lionsgate and my former colleagues at SPTNF, to capture the tremendous opportunity ahead.”
