Another of Universal Pictures’ monster films received an R rating from the MPAA. Despite rumors that The Wolf Man would be rated PG-13, it is officially rated R.

Whannel previously said of the film: “[Wolf Man] I’m saying, ‘I just wanted to make something that was pure horror.’” He also said he wanted to make a werewolf film that audiences had never seen before.
In the film, Blake (Christopher Abbott), husband and father from San Francisco, “inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his father disappears and is presumed dead.
“With his marriage to his powerful wife, Charlotte (Giulia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), worn out, Blake convinces Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Hullraisers, Coma).
“But as the family approaches the farm in the dead of night, they are attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, they barricade themselves inside the house as the creature prowls the perimeter.
“As the night progresses, however, Blake begins to act strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror inside their home is deadlier than the danger outside.”
The film is scheduled for release in January 2025.
