Netflix has released a new trailer for its historical Korean action epic Revoltproduced and co-written by Park Chan-wook (Old man, thirsty) and directed by Kim Sangman ( Midnight FM, The tenor).
This movie looks freaking awesome! The story is set in the Joseon era “during a tumultuous time in the aftermath of the war, you embark on a journey through the lives of two childhood friends turned adversaries.
“Cheon Yeong, a slave with remarkable martial skill; and Jong Ryeo, Cheon Yeng’s master and scion of Joseon’s most influential military family. Two friends who grew up together – one the master and the other the servant – reunite after the war as enemies on opposite sides.
Revolt “delves into themes of friendship, loyalty and betrayal against the backdrop of class differences and war.”
In the movie. Cheon-yeong and Jong-ryeo have a sincere friendship despite their different social statuses: one is a master, the other is a slave.
Cheon-yeong hopes to “free himself from servitude and reclaim his status, but their friendship deteriorates when Jong-ryeo’s family rejects their promise to free him.
“The chaos increases as the war begins, turning friends into enemies. Cheon-yeong joins the militia, earning the fearsome nickname “blue-robed god” for his unmatched swordsmanship, while Jong-ryeo becomes a high-ranking military officer filled with anger towards Cheon-yeong.
The film is the protagonist Gang Dong-won like Cheon-young and Jeong-min Park like Jong-ryeo, with Kim Shin-rock, Jin Sun-kyu, Jung Sung IlAND Cha Seung-won.
Netflix will release Revolt on October 11, 2024.
