Over the weekend, Saturday night live hosted the kickoff of its 50th season on NBC. The episode was expected to win an Emmy and a Golden Globe Hack actress Jean Smart as host and Jelly Roll as musical guest.
It was a fun matchup with plenty of political fuel for the fire in the opening segment and Weekend Update.
There were plenty of skits that made fans laugh, and one of them was the fake commercial the show made for Spirit Halloween stores, which centered on the funny fact that when a store closes, you can always count on Spirit to move in and set up . shopping during the spooky season.
Now, Spirit Halloween is responding to the sketch show with a social media post that features a photo of a fake Halloween costume bag from the store and a description that reads “50-year-old irrelevant TV show” that includes “dated references, members unknown cast and declining ratings. “We’re great at bringing things back from the dead,” the Spirit Halloween account wrote in the caption.
Hell, shots were fired. I guess it’s all in good fun, but the post seems a little more focused than the commercial. Check it all out below and enjoy:
