It’s been almost a year and a half since Star Wars Celebration was announced Margaret Ridley would return to the role of Rey Skywalker in a new film trilogy.
The first film, Star Wars: New Jedi Orderis currently in production and won’t hit theaters until 2026, so we don’t have much information about the plot. All we have for now is Ridley assuring us that the story is solid, once again.
In a new interview with French publication Premiere (via GamesRadar), Ridley said of the new films: “My thoughts on it are quite simple: if I didn’t think it was a story worth telling, I wouldn’t have gone back.” .
“They just asked me if I could do it based on a concept, without there being a script yet. But if I hadn’t believed in the concept, the film wouldn’t have been made.
“I took a day to think about it and thought about how much fun it was to work on those films. This new adventure seemed interesting to me, so why turn it down?”
New Jedi Order will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) from a screenplay written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Set 15 years after Episode 7, the film will see the Jedi Order in disarray – and Rey attempting to rebuild it.
Are you looking forward to this new chapter in the Star Wars universe?
