Trailer for Amazon Prime’s New Australian Adaptation of THE OFFICE

Amazon Prime Video has released a trailer for the Australian adaptation of one of the world’s most successful series, The office.

The first version of the series started in the UK, by the creators Ricky Gervasio AND Stephen MerchantIt later moved to the United States, where the story continued for more seasons and gained a much larger fan base.

With NBC’s current follow-up to the U.S. adaptation of The office still in development, in the meantime fans of the franchise around the world will be able to enjoy an Australian attempt at mockumentary-style comedy.

A strange thing about The office Australia is set to be available on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide from October 18th… except the US

In the clip released Wednesday, we see Hannah Howard (Felicity Ward), CEO of Sydney-based packaging company Flinley Craddick, who tries, unsuccessfully, to win over her employees with her natural charisma, “girlboss” vibes and visionary leadership.

Receptionist, front desk manager and productivity manager Lizze are also trapped in Flinley Craddick with Hannah (Poor Edith playing the role of Dwight/Gareth); sales representative Nick (Steen Raskopoulos playing the role of Tim/Jim) and Greta (Shari Sebbens in the role of Pam/Dawn).

The cast also includes Josh Thompson, Jonny Brugg, Susanna Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda, Claude Jabbour AND Jason PeriniGuest stars in the eight-episode season include Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniak (Italian), Charles Ritchie, Rich DonaldAND Chris Bunton.

The office It was developed for Australia by writers Julie De Fina (Aftertaste) and Jackie van Beek (The Breaker Upperers, Naked Tuesday) with the pair also serving as executive producers. Kylie Washington (Return to Paradise) is executive producer with lead producer Sophia Zachariou (Ladies in Black, The moth effect) and producer Linda Micsko (The disappointment, Laid down).

Fans seem to be pretty divided on the new series. I see both sides of the issue. It looks like it’s a new, updated version of the story, and it looks like it’s going to be fun, but it seems like there are a lot of weirdos out there (we’ve all worked with them) that they could draw new workplace characters from.

We probably don’t need to see the exact same types of people over and over again. But maybe it will be fun. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think:
