The popular American sitcom The Office ended in 2013. But the popularity of the series still makes some producers want to make money from Greg Daniels’ creation.
Their versions of “The Office” have already been released in France, India, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and in 2024 Australian producers tried their luck with their remake, for which money was allocated by Prime Video bosses.
The show, starring Felicity Ward as the female version of Michael Scott, recently debuted its first trailer and fans of the original series were shocked by what they saw.
Australian screenwriters tried to accurately recreate the atmosphere of the American “Office”, but their version looks dull and banal even in the trailer. Fans did not like that the producers turned the office workers into a bunch of crazy lunatics.
“It’s just a trailer, of course, but it feels disingenuous and inappropriate. It’s like they based it on the later seasons of The Office, rather than starting with the more gentle and believable characters you’d imagine at work.” – one fan noted.
The first season of the Australian “Office” will consist of only 8 episodes, and fans are already certain that the show will be closed immediately after its release. Instead of inventing a new sitcom format, the writers simply stole Daniels’ work and even increased the level of insanity to the maximum.
Fans just don’t want this version of The Office.
All episodes of the first season will be released on Prime Video on October 18.
