Not long after the release of the first trailer for the upcoming film A Minecraft Moviea fully animated, shot-for-shot, fan-made, and distributed remake, which actually makes the movie a lot more interesting than the whole CGI/Live-Action hybrid thing. Maybe the whole movie should have been animated!
The synopsis reads: “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you create—it’s essential to survival! Four misfits—Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison, Henry, Natalie, and Dawn—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they’re suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.
“To get home, they must master this world (and protect it from evil creatures like Piglins and Zombies), while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected and skilled craftsman, Steve (Black).
“Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the same skills they need to thrive in the real world again.”
The film was directed by Napoleon’s Dynamite AND Nacho Free director Written by Jared Hess and stars Jason Momoa AND Black Jack.
The film also stars Emma Myers (Wednesday), Danielle Brooks (The color purple), Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Only Mercy, Lisey’s Story), with My life is beautiful.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures will release the film only in theaters and IMAX in North America on April 4, 2025.
