This week’s retro trailer is for the 1988 action film The rescuewhich follows a group of American teenagers who embark on a daring mission to rescue their Navy SEAL fathers, who have been captured and imprisoned in North Korea.

When diplomatic efforts fail to secure the SEALs’ release, the teenagers, led by the resourceful JJ Merrill, decide to take matters into their own hands. Using their knowledge of military tactics and the assistance of a retired Navy officer, the group sneaks into North Korea and devises a plan to break their fathers out of a heavily guarded military prison.

As the boys navigate the dangerous terrain of North Korea, they will face numerous challenges, including evading enemy soldiers and overcoming the prison’s advanced security systems.

Despite the high stakes and the unfavorable odds, their determination and teamwork allowed them to complete the mission.

The rescue is a quintessential 80s adventure film that combines the era’s love of teen-centric narratives with the excitement of a high-stakes rescue operation. It’s a ridiculous movie, but it’s fun!
