The first clip of the next film The Apprentice It has been released and contains the first footage of Sebastian Stan plays former President Donald Trump.
The film is a biography of Trump directed by Ali Abbasi and in the clip, Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong) is coaching Trump as he answers a phone interview in his car.
Trump says in the trailer: “I’m going to buy the Commodore and I’m going to make it the finest, finest building in the city, maybe in the country, in the world… it will be the finest building in the world.”
After its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the film struggled to find a buyer due to its controversial nature. But it eventually ended up at Briarcliff Entertainment.
There is one scene in the film that shocked Cannes viewers: the one in which Trump rapes his then-wife Ivana, played by Maria Bakalova.
The Trump campaign has threatened legal action over the film, saying in a statement: “This garbage is pure fiction that sensationalizes lies that have long been debunked.”
The film is described as an “exploration of power and ambition, set in a world of corruption and deception, The Apprentice will examine Trump’s efforts to build his New York real estate business in the 1970s and ’80s, including delving into his relationship with infamous lawyer Roy Cohn. It’s a mentor-protégé story that traces the origins of a great American dynasty.”
