Rebecca Ferguson is set to star in the film adaptation of by Enid Blyton beloved fantasy book series The Magic Tree Far AwayFerguson joins the previous cast Andrea Garfield AND Chiara Foy.
The Magic Tree Far Away follows Polly (Foy) and Tim (Garfield) and their children Beth, Joe and Fran, “a modern family who find themselves forced to relocate to the remote English countryside.
“Soon after the family arrives in the country, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric residents, including beloved characters Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot and Saucepan Man.
“At the top of the tree, they are transported to spectacular, fantastical lands, and through the joys and challenges of their adventures, the family learns to reconnect and appreciate each other for the first time in years.”
Ferguson will play Dame Snap, the terrifying headmistress in the story. Ferguson has some experience playing a nightmare character, having played Rose The Hat in Doctor Sleep, and was as evil as can be.
Director Well Gregor said in a statement: “Rebecca is a commanding presence on screen, one of the finest actresses of her generation, and will be an electrifying addition to our film.”
Other cost members include Nicholas Coughlan, It’s not Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Actor: Dustin Demri Jones, Mark pile, Oliver Chris, Lenny Henry, Simone Russell Beale, MichaelPalin, Jennifer Saunders, Hiran Abeysekera AND Pippa Bennett Warner.
New arrivals Delilah Bennett Cardy, Billie Gadsdon AND Phoenix Laroche The Thompson children play them.
The screenplay is written by Simone Farnaby (The movie “Paddington 2”).
Ferguson will then work on the Peaky Blinders opposite film Cillian Murphy, Mercy with Chris PrattAND by Kathryn BigelowNetflix’s next movie. The second season of its Apple series Silowhose premiere is scheduled for November 15th.
