STX Entertainment and Citizen Skull Productions are producing a new creature feature horror film, big foot.
In this latest Bigfoot story, “a beast terrorizes a modern apartment complex in a small mountain town. The attacks leave the town’s new sheriff fighting for his daughter’s life.”
The film is directed by John Asceri (Diamonds) and first-time screenwriter Jordan Reid. Filming is scheduled for this fall in the remote Crystal Mountains of Washington State.
Asher said in a statement: “Since the release of Jaws, viewers have been terrified of water. Once they see Bigfoot, they will never go into the forest again.”
That’s a big claim, but I doubt he’ll pull it off. There’s nothing truly scary about Bigfoot, and it’s hard to believe he’ll make Bigfoot scary.
The project’s producer Mark Myers, President of Citizen Skull Productions, added: “When I read the script, I was absolutely blown away. This movie is incredibly terrifying. It will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.”
Yeah, we’ll see. They’re exaggerating too much for me to believe. There have been very few Bigfoot movies worth watching, and I’m not convinced this one will be any better.
An interesting side note is that Asher’s grandfather is EM Asher, and was an associate producer on Universal Pictures’ iconic monster movies. Dracula (1931) and Frankenstein (1931).
