Several images of the director have been shared Mike Flanaganthe next film adaptation of Stephen King’S Chuck’s Lifewhich has as protagonists Tom Hiddleston.

Chuck’s Life are “three separate stories linked to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from brain cancer at age 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.”

The film is described as an apocalyptic version of Life is wonderfuland King, who saw the film, says it’s “a happiness machine.”

Hiddlestone tells Vanity Fair: “Well, he’s written something very tender and very wise. I think there’s a great wisdom at the heart of the story, which is that it takes courage to hold on to what’s good in a world that seems to be falling apart.”

Speaking about the disaster aspect of the story, Flanagan explains why it is different: “A disaster movie shows people meeting their end while running away from tidal waves, whereas this story shows people sitting in silence, holding hands and looking up at the stars.”

Hiddleston continued: “Every human being’s life is a constellation, as expressed in this film. There are certain moments that will shine brighter as individual stars.

“Sometimes it feels like the world is falling apart, and it’s full of pain and suffering, and AND—but there are moments of deep joy and deep connection.”

Speaking about discovering the story, Flanagan said: “There’s no way he could have written it before the world stopped in this bizarre moment, but he did. And the feeling of anxiety, and uncertainty, and that everything was falling apart came over me.

“I wasn’t sure I could finish it. It felt too close to the anxiety I was feeling. By the end, I was in tears, incredibly relieved and convinced that I had read perhaps the best thing he had written in a decade. I was just blown away by it.

“So I immediately emailed him and said how much I loved the story, how incredible it was, how meaningful and important it was and how it was really tattooed on my heart and I said, ‘This is the movie I want to make exist in the world for my kids.’”

The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), a teacher who tries to apply logic to the planet’s problems; Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) is his ex, a hospital worker determined to save anyone she can; Matthew Lillard (Cry) is a construction worker neighbor who finds zen amidst the chaos; and Carlo Lumbe (Alias), plays a funeral director who has dedicated his life to helping people deal with death.
