As Mark Ruffalo begins filming SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY, fans realize Bruce Banner hasn’t left in 13 years

It’s been more than a decade since we last saw each other Marco RuffaloBruce Banner unleashes The Incredible Hulk onto the screen, and now that Ruffalo is officially filming Spider-Man: The New Dayfans are starting to notice something strange… the last time Banner actually transformed into the Hulk before our eyes was way back in 2012 The Avengers.

A fan post on Reddit recently highlighted the realization, pointing out that we haven’t seen a full Hulk transformation in over 13 years.

“It’s actually kind of crazy to think about the fact that this moment happened 13 years ago,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Damn, it’s kind of crazy when you realize it. It’s like they only had one example on screen of Iron Man getting in or taking off his suit.”

In The AvengersBruce Banner’s transformation was one of the film’s greatest and most iconic moments, brought to life. Since then, Hulk has appeared many times Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: EndgameAND She-Hulk: Lawyerbut in reality we never witnessed that moment of transformation again.

Instead, Marvel has tended to cut it, showing Bruce in one scene and Hulk already in all his green glory in the next.

Fans have theories as to why this might be. Some think it’s just a matter of saving on effects. “Honestly, the Hulk transformations probably stand out as great scenes to cut if you want to save a couple truckloads of money,” one commenter pointed out.

Others think it could be a creative choice linked to Bruce’s evolution into Smart Hulk. As the original Reddit poster noted, “With Bruce still in full Smart Hulk form and occasionally using a Hulk inhibitor device to return to his human form, do you think we’ll get a similar Hulk-out scene soon?”

This question may finally get an answer soon. Ruffalo just started filming Spider-Man: The New Daywhat stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Details about Ruffalo’s role are still under wraps, but fans are hoping the film will give us a long-overdue look at Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk.

What’s interesting is that Ruffalo is not currently listed as part of the cast Avengers: Judgment Daythe next big crossover event, but there are already a ton of cast members in the movie, and more additions on the way, so it could show up.

If Spider-Man: The New Day It really marks Ruffalo’s big return, let’s hope Marvel finally lets him Hulk out again. After all, it’s been 13 years and fans are more than ready.

Spider-Man: The New Day will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
