Alien: Romulus It’s packed with interesting references to the previous films and apparently also contains some Easter eggs that fans may have missed involving Ellen Ripley.
The film is set between the events of Alien AND AliensSo Ripley is just floating in space waiting to be discovered.
Director Faith Alvarez was recently a guest on the ReelBlend podcast and during the show he teased that there are some hidden Easter eggs regarding Sigourney WeaverEllen Ripley and where she might be during the events of the film.
Asked if Ripley could be written into the plot of Romulus, the director replied: “I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, because no one knows exactly what happened in all those years that she was away.
He added: “I can’t say more. I think for legal reasons I can’t say more. I would say it’s not impossible. I think it’s entirely possible that he could have been part of this story in some way.”
Álvarez then added: “There are some things that I hid in that film that are the answer to that question. They’re just very well hidden. But they’re kind of hidden in plain sight.”
He explained that there are “some clues” that he “inserted into the film,” but that “if he revealed what they were now, it would defeat the whole purpose of the film.”
Well, looks like I’m going to have to go see the movie again to try to find those clues!
In the film, while exploring the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux (Shadow and bone), Spike Fear (After sun), and the new arrival Aileen Wu.
