Yellow stone actress Kelly Reilly has signed on to star in a new Sky Original series titled Under the salt marshfrom the creator Claire Oakley.
The six-part show is described as a “gripping crime thriller” set in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, a place trapped between towering mountains and a rapidly advancing sea. Reilly will play detective-turned-teacher Jackie Ellis.
The oak (Trick, Guilty) is co-writer, executive producer and lead director of the show, which is produced by Little Door Productions in association with Sky Studios. Jonathan Harbottle AND Nikita Lalwani are co-authors while Mary Nighy directs the third and fourth episodes.
The synopsis reads: “As a one-of-a-kind storm begins to gather offshore, former detective turned teacher Jackie Ellis discovers the body of her 8-year-old student, Cefin, apparently drowned.
“The discovery rocks the community, reviving the specter of an unsolved case that had rocked the town three years earlier: the disappearance of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, which had cost her her career.
Cefin’s death calls Jackie’s former partner, Detective Eric Bull, back to Morfa Halen to lead the investigation into a community he’s already failed once.
“Convinced that the cases are connected, Jackie and Bull must reconcile and race to uncover long-buried secrets within Morfa, before the storm erupts and all evidence is lost forever.”
