Legendary actress Sally’s Field is in talks to star in Netflix’s film adaptation of the novel Extraordinarily bright creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. This is a very interesting project and it’s a pretty crazy story.
Remarkably Bright Creatures follows “a lonely widow’s unlikely friendship with a giant octopus. After Tova Sullivan’s husband dies, she begins working the graveyard shift as a janitor at a local aquarium.
“At work, she meets an eight-tentacled animal named Marcellus, who helps Tova uncover the truth about her son’s disappearance at sea 30 years ago.”
The project is in the early stages of development with Olivia Newman (Where the shrimps sing) set to direct. Newman is also co-writing the screenplay with John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Lego Batman Movie).
Fields, a two-time Oscar winner for Norma Rae AND Places in the heartwas most recently in 80 for BradySome of his other film credits include Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, Steel Flower, The Bandit and the Witch AND Lincoln.
