Original Garbage Can Kids artist Joe Kimko and former Topps executive Ira Friedman are teaming up to develop an animated series titled Cranials with Titmouse Studios.
The series is based on a new Cranials trading card series that is scheduled to be released in August. Below you can see some of the card designs.
THE Cranials It’s a “universe of skull-headed people,” two planets collide, forcing two very different societies, the Stone Age Backland and the ultra-futuristic Futerra, to figure out how to make this new world order of planet-sharing work!
“High-octane action, outrageous physical comedy and outrageous competition will be at the heart of each episode, along with the importance of friendship, brotherhood and family.
It is explained that Titmouse will create an animated Craniacs universe primarily for children aged 6 to 12. “The animation will be inspired by previous and future card releases, introducing a series of engaging stories and memorable original characters.”
Friedman said in a statement: “Joe and I are extremely pleased to announce our development deal with such a cutting-edge and incredibly innovative animation studio.
“It is a real vote of confidence for Cranials that Titmouse, a company with such talent and great respect, will be applying their special magic to our original IP. We are super excited to see everything their creative team will bring to the brand in the future.”
Alexey BochenekTitmouse’s creative director, added: “Skulls? Skateboards? Planets colliding? Hell, yeah, we want to make a cartoon about that!
“I was basically a Futurama-shut-up-and-take-my-money meme when I saw Joe’s incredible artwork and heard about Ira’s big plans for this new IP. I can’t wait for audiences to see what we can do with a world like this in our hands.”
Simko has visualized the entire world of this series, including all character designs, vehicles, accessories, and environments.
