Captain America: Brave New World will see the return of Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this character and it will be interesting to see what he’s been up to all these years.
Now that Nelson finds himself back in the MCU, he’s being asked all those Marvel questions that Marvel actors are asked. One of those questions is what he thinks of the criticism surrounding Marvel.
During an interview with The Wrap at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor answered this question, stating: “Marvel has become an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of cinema.
“These dozens of films with characters coming in and out of each other’s stories, coming together, coming apart, fighting each other in one universe: it had never happened before in movies.
“When people attack these films and say, ‘Well, that’s not real cinema’ or ‘It’s the death of cinema,’ I actually think they’re there to keep cinema alive, and I mean that.”
In recent years, we have certainly seen a superhero fatigue due to all the mediocre and terrible movies being made. Then there are directors like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Quentin Tarantino who have commented on the superhero genre.
Speaking previously about fatigue in superhero movies, Anthony Russo said, “I think it’s fatigue in general. The issue of fatigue in superhero movies existed long before the work we were doing.
“So it’s kind of an eternal complaint, like when we used to complain about it in our early days with superhero work. People complained about Westerns the same way, but they went on for decades and decades and decades. They were constantly being reinvented and taken to new heights as they went along.”
Regardless, Deadpool & Wolverine bombed at the box office and fans love the movie! This is a movie that fans have always wanted to see and it provides fun, bloody, action-packed entertainment.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when the next Marvel movies come out. I think Marvel is going to be on the up again because they have some exciting projects lined up.
