Kevin Smith has released the first trailer for his new coming-of-age filmThe 4:30 Movieconsidered the director’s most personal film to date.
The film is described as a “touching comic homage to 80s cinema and youth.” It looks like it tells a fun and delightful story, and it’s the kind of film I’ll enjoy watching.
The film is set in the summer of 1986 and the story follows “three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into local movie theaters.
“When one of the boys invites the girl of his dreams to see a film forbidden to minors, hilarity breaks out, like a presumptuous theater director (My Friend Ken Jeong) and teenage rivalries interfere with his best-laid plans.”
The cast is made up of an all-star cast that also includes Sam Richardson, Genesis Rodriguez, Justin Long, Jason Lee, Rachel Draghi, Kate Micucci, Adam Pally, Harley Quinn BlacksmithAND Man of method.
Smith said in a statement: “The day we purchased Smodcastle Cinemas, not only did I get back a key piece of my childhood, but I also suddenly had access to a visually compelling, free movie location!
“So I started writing a personal ode to the past for us kids of the ’70s and ’80s, the pre-computer generation who grew up without the Internet, when relationships and romances required much more than a swipe to initiate, and the idea of asking out a crush was as terrifying as the looming threat of nuclear war.”
Tickets for the premiere are on sale now at Smodcastle’s website (note: the pricing is in premiere style). It will be held at Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey and will serve as a fundraiser for the theater.
