Irish actor Barry Keoghan halted filming on the new Beatles biopic after tearing out his costume earrings and storming off set in Kent.

The 33-year-old Saltburn star, who plays musician Ringo Starr in the production, threw a tantrum earlier this month while filming at Stonewall Park in Kent. According to set insiders, Keoghan tore out his Ringo earrings, threw them into a bush, and walked off down the driveway. The outburst left crew members praying he will learn to let it be so everyone can go home on time.

Barry Keoghan, the Irish actor set to play Ringo Starr in the upcoming Beatles biopic films, stormed off during filming, causing the day to be suspended

Production staff spent a long time searching through the bushes to find the missing costume jewelry, forcing filming to be suspended for a full day.

The incident follows Keoghan's retreat from public life after a barrage of online hate left him, in his words, "hiding away." The internet trolling focused on his physical appearance and rumors that he cheated on pop singer Sabrina Carpenter during their relationship from 2023 to 2024, claims Keoghan condemned as "completely untrue."

Speaking on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast in April, Keoghan explained his decision to step back from public view. "I came off Instagram and social profiles. I stopped going to events. I stopped socialising," he said.

The Beatles project, consisting of four separate films set for release in 2028, has also generated controversy over fan complaints that the cast members look too unlike the Fab Four. The production stars 30-year-old Gladiator actor Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, 32-year-old Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and 30-year-old Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. Keoghan was approached for comment regarding the disruption on set.
