Paramount+ has premiered the first trailer for Michelle Yeoh’S Star Trek: Section 31 at Comic-Con, and is now available online for all of you!
This is a crazy trailer and it feels like a unique Star Trek story that has a kind of energy that is insanely different than anything I’ve seen in the franchise before. One of the actors from the series described it as being Guardians of the Galaxy on steroids.
As a fan of what Paramount+ is doing with Star Trek, this movie looks awesome! It’s great to see fans finally get to enjoy a new Star Trek movie! While Paramount Pictures has had trouble getting one off the ground, Paramount+ beat them to it.
The film focuses on the Mirror Universe version of Michelle Yeoh’s Emperor character Philippa Georgiou who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she must also confront the sins of her past.
In the film, “Empress Philippa Georgiou joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and confronts the sins of her past.” Yeoh will reprise her role as Empress Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discoveryand filming will take place from January 29th until the end of March.
THE Star Trek the film also stars Omari Hardwick (Power), My life is nice (Hannibal), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (A piece), Roberto Kazinski (Pacific Rim), Umberly Gonzalez (Ginny and Georgia) AND James Hiroyuki Liao (Bar).
Yeoh previously said of the film, “I am beyond excited to return to my Star Trek family and the role I have loved for so long. Section 31 has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa, when this new golden age of Star Trek launched.
“Seeing her finally come to her moment is a dream come true in a year that has shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams. We can’t wait to share what the future holds for you, and until then: live long and prosper (unless Emperor Georgiou decrees otherwise)!”
Kurtzman added: “Already in 2017, before the first season of Star Trek: Discovery had aired, Michelle had the idea to do a spin-off for her character, Philippa Georgiou. She broke new ground as one of the first two women on screen in the pilot to usher in a new era of Trek, and now, six years later, Star Trek: Section 31 finally arrives right after his last, revolutionary victory.
“Everyone on Team Trek couldn’t be more excited to have our legendary friend back home as we expand our storytelling into new and unexplored corners of the Trekverse. Long live Emperor Georgiou; long live Michelle Yeoh!”
Dominic DiMeglioChief Marketing Officer and Chief Data Officer at Paramount Streaming, added: “We are thrilled that Star Trek: Section 31 will be the next title in our Star Trek universe.
