Today at the Star Trek panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, we were treated to a ton of exciting new information, and one of those pieces of news was the surprise announcement that a new series is in the works from the producer of Star Trek. Alex Kurtzman, Justin Simien (Dear White People, The Haunted House), who moderated the entire Star Trek panel as a huge fan of the franchise, and New brown tawnyvoice actor of Star Trek: Lower Decks..
Simien and Newsome are co-writing the half-hour live-action comedy with Star Trek series creator Alex Kurtzman, who will make his writing debut as a half-hour episode.
No title or format (single- or multi-camera) has yet been revealed for the comedy, in which Federation outsiders serving a glittering resort planet find their daily exploits being broadcast across the quadrant.
Further clues provided by Simien and Newsome include that the comedy will feature some 25th century mischief, odd couples and… vibes?
Stay tuned for further updates.
