Fox was developing an adult sequel series to the classic animated series The Flintstones titled Bottom rockBut, according to TV Line, that project has been shelved.
However, they say that Fox is open to revisiting the project at a later date. Elizabeth Banks was set to star in and executive produce the series. She would voice Pebbles.
The story of the series is set 20 years after the events of the original series. Fred Flintstone is on the verge of retirement and twenty-year-old Pebbles is embarking on her career.
“As the Stone Age gives way to a new, bright and enlightened Bronze Age, the denizens of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a blow from Bamm-Bamm’s club.”
Stephen Root AND Amy Sedaris were meant to give voice to Fred and Wilma, with Nicole Byer (Great crew) like Betty, Joe LoTruglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) like Barney and Manny Jacinto (The Acolyte) like Bamm-Bamm.
Banks have raised eyebrows by saying that Bottom rock would have “adult themes, like all adults – just like The Simpsons OR South Park — but “family-friendly.”
The project was written and co-produced by actress Lindsay Kerns (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, DC Super Hero Girls and Trolls: the party continues!).
