Seth Rogen recently offered an update on the planned sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
He said that there is a complete animatic of the film, with storyboards, and that it even has a title, and Rogen is very excited about it.
During an interview with CB, Rogen said: “There’s a title, and it’s awesome, but I don’t think I can say it. But when it came on the screen, I stood up and applauded. There’s an animatic, there’s a storyboarded version of the whole movie, so they’re working on it right now.”
While we wait for the sequel to come out, we have a spin-off series coming up titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Taleswhich takes place immediately after the events of the film to keep us glued to the screen until the sequel is released.
We don’t know much about the sequel, but one thing we do know is that it will introduce Shredder as the main villain. It was previously explained that the sequel will be a “bad guy” movie that will focus on Shredder.
Director Patrick Rocco he said: “Shredder is just a great character. He’s an iconic, classic, beloved character. He’s like the Joker. You know who he is, even if you’re not a fan of the source material.
“I think we definitely want to make a movie that’s about the villains. We’re trying to make some decisions about that right now, but those decisions for us as filmmakers are always going to come from a place of what tells the best story, particularly about our main characters, the Turtles.”
Rowe later shared: “Shredder was the main villain before we moved away from him. They saved Joker for The dark Knight.”
He goes on to say that Shredder will be “100 times scarier than Superfly” in the sequel: “The only thing I can say without spoiling anything is that [Shredder] He has to be 100 times scarier than Superfly, who is a believable villain, he’s dangerous, he’s strong, he looks like he could take down the Turtles. Shredder has to be that, just a lot scarier.”
The director previously teased Shredder’s involvement, saying, “When you’ve grown up and gained confidence as a teenager, and then you find yourself facing an enemy that’s three times scarier than anything you’ve ever seen before, it’s interesting and dramatic.”
He added: “It’s going to be really interesting to see these fun-loving characters come up against something that maybe they can’t stop.”
It will be interesting to see what the next chapter of the story will entail and how the narrative arc of these characters will evolve.
