Rumors are circulating online that Robert Downey Jr. could reprise his role as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in the MCU.
I think there is a possibility that it will occur in Deadpool vs WolverineIt seems likely, given that Deadpool jumps around the MCU timeline.
But a new report has emerged that claims Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark will appear in an upcoming film Avengers film. This news comes from reliable insider Jeff Sneider, and he claims that Stark’s return could come with a villainous twist.
According to the report, Downey Jr. could return in a future Avengers film as a Stark variant who will eventually transform into Doctor Doom.
Interestingly, Downey Jr. originally auditioned to play Doctor Doom in the 20th Century Fox film Fantastic Four film before landing the role of Tony Stark in Iron Man.
Speaking previously about his possible return, the actor seemed very open to the idea, stating: “It’s madly in my DNA.
“Probably the most similar character to me I’ve ever played, even though he’s much cooler than me. I’ve become surprisingly open to the idea.”
We have no idea what to expect from the MCU at this point, and even if this rumor is true, a lot could change between then and the movie’s release.
Then there’s the fact that Kevin Feige They said they will not undo Stark’s death, saying, “We will cherish that moment and never touch it again. We worked hard for many years to get there, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
But that doesn’t mean they won’t play as a variant of the character. They just won’t remove that aspect of this version of the character. So, anything is still possible.
