AHSOKA Actress Sabine Responds to Claims That the Force Was Too Easy for Her Character to Master

Assoka it was another Star Wars series that some fans had issues with. There were some interesting concepts in the story, while other creative choices caused some frustration.

One element of the series that caused fans a lot of problems was Sabine’s journey, her bond with Ahsoka, and the way her character easily mastered the Force.

Healthy actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo spoke to EW’s Dagobah Dispatch podcast and addressed these issues, saying:

“There’s been a lot of comments about how Sabine has made some bad choices, and she’s definitely a very divisive character for some people. But it’s been really fun to be able to start from such a dark place and show the arc of where she’s going.

“I think the show wouldn’t have had the same journey if it hadn’t started with their dynamic being so tense and needing each other but not wanting to need each other.”

Regarding Sabine’s journey with the Force, she said: “There’s been a bit of feedback [online] that the Force was too easy for Sabine, and I thought, “What do you mean?”

“The concept of the Force as a difficult-to-achieve but attainable state of being that people can access with hard work and dedication, I think, is a really honorable concept that feels very Dave-like. And George Lucas he had originally said this too.”

She continued: “I think it’s awesome that it’s been a journey. You see her fail and you see her try again and again. Mind you, she’s not always cool and she doesn’t always end the fight cool and she has the last word.

“It’s a mess. And then at the end, when the stakes are so high, he manages to exploit it when he needs it most.”

Assoka Creator Dave Filoni She previously talked about what she wanted to explore in Sabine’s initial story arc: “She’s a very talented warrior, but this isn’t an easy thing for her, and I think that makes her relatable to people.

“Generally in Star WarsWe’ve always seen very gifted people being trained, and I wanted to show the opposite in a way. If she reaches her potential, there’s also a danger in that, because of who she is as a warrior. She’s prone to anger, and all the things that Ahsoka worries about could flare up.”

That’s why he liked the idea of a Jedi Padawan who wasn’t immediately attuned to the Force.

Every time a new Star Wars project is released there are fans who will find things they don’t like. It’s just part of the madness Star Wars fan world.
