The first trailer is out Bruce Timmthe new animated series by Batman: Caped Crusader and offers our first look at this new version of Batman and his gallery of villains in action!
This looks like it could be a great show and for those who are big fans of the original Batman: The Animated Series, there’s no doubt you’ll want to dive in and watch this show! It has the same tone and aesthetic, but will be darker.
The series description reads: “Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals are rampant, and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear.
“Forged in the fires of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something more and less than human: BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions generate deadly and unforeseen consequences.”
The show is said to capture what Timm originally intended to do with the original animated series, stating, “It kind of harks back to the original tenets of the show that we came up with in the early ’90s.
“There were some limitations on what we could do in terms of adult content; in terms of violence and adult themes.” He continued, “My idea is basically to say, ‘OK, it’s 1990 again, I can do what I want to do this time, and I’ve got JJ and Matt backing me up. . on.”
The cast includes Hamish Linklater (Midnight snack) as Batman, Cristina Ricci as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jamie Chung is Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, and former voice actress of Batman Dierich Bader will play Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
Other cast members include Minnie Driver, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Kristal Joy Brown, Giovanni Di Maggio, McKenna Grace, Jason Watkins, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel OsmentAND Toby Stephens.
This animated series has been in development for some time with Timm, JJ Abrams, Matt Reevesand comic book writer Ed Brubaker leading the charge.
Batman: Caped Crusader will premiere August 1 on Prime Video.
