THE THING: REMASTERED video game trailer revealed

Video game remastering studio Nightdive Studios announced The bottom line: remasteredwhich will be a faithful restoration of the 2002 third-person survival horror game that inspired it By John Carpenter classic film from 1982, The thing.

The bottom line: remastered is a sequel to John Carpenter’s classic 1982 horror film where Captain Blake of the US Army Special Forces team is sent to the Antarctic outpost from the film to find out what happened to the search party while surviving against the titular shape-shifting alien. Nightdive Studios has updated the game for the modern era using its proprietary KEX engine to play on current generation gaming devices. Updates include improvements to character models, textures and animations.

We will use advanced 3D rendering that provides updated lighting and atmospheric effects, delivering a “suspenseful and sickeningly detailed remaster” suitable for modern audiences.

Larry Kuperman, director of business development at Nightdive Studios, said in a statement: “Many of us at Nightdive Studios are avid fans of the horror genre, so it was an incredible honor to work in the world of the iconic film.” The thing.

“The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful works of art in the horror genre. With The bottom line: remasteredwe’re honoring that legacy and the incredible story-inspired Computer Artworks game that further expanded the tradition.”

The bottom line: remastered lists the following main features:

  • Return to American Outpost No. 31: Continue the story of The Thing and face terrifying monsters, from scurrying human-like spiders and walkers to giant, multi-tentacled level bosses

  • Who’s Going?: Command a squad of up to four NPCs from the Soldier, Medic, and Engineer classes through the game’s 11 fearsome levels

  • The hottest place to hide: Someone on your team may not be who they seem. The shapeshifting alien is hiding inside an imitation, so keep your eyes alert.

  • Don’t miss it: gain the trust of your team members and minimize their fear levels to prevent them from becoming rebellious or, worse, succumbing to paranoia

  • Ultimate Alien Terror: Improved models, textures and animations hand-crafted by Nightdive, plus improved lighting and atmospheric effects

  • Stunning visuals: up to 4K images at 120 FPS on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series

  • Checkmate: Trophies and Achievements on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation and Xbox consoles

The bottom line: remastered will release digitally on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation® 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
