The Avengers were first introduced as an entire team in the 2012 film The Avengers. The film concluded the first phase of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe, and once it was released, you could probably say that fans were at one of the highest peaks of excitement for what was happening in Marvel films.
That movie set the stage and established our core of badass superheroes who all brought their own skills and intelligence to the team.
With moviegoers less enthusiastic these days about the future of the MCU, word has gotten out about that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is considering reuniting the original team in an upcoming Avengers film.
Even though a couple of these characters are dead and gone, meaning their appearances would have to be made using variations, it might still be nice to see them together again.
In a recent interview with CBM, the Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner spoke about the possibility, saying:
“Maybe if enough time passes, right? I think that’s already the case at this point, but what’s the point of storytelling?” [and] history? These are beloved characters. We spent 23 films together essentially as a collective. What’s the reason? What’s the story? Do you have anything else to do next? How did you ever solve this problem? When will it ever feel like, ‘Everyone gets their own bow, no one died, it’s great!’ What’s going on here? I have some feelings about it. I think everyone does it. I think the guys who died have feelings about it.”
Of course they have feelings about it. I’m sure it was difficult Scarlett Johansson AND Robert Downey Junior. when their story arcs concluded, but they had closure and their stories came to an end.
Who knows how they will feel when they return? I think it would be nice to see them one more time! What do you think?
