Lucasfilm has shared a new clip from its upcoming series Star Wars: The Acolyteand this puts the focus on Carrie-Anne Moss’ character of Jedi Master Indara while fighting Amanda SteinbergMae, the character who kills the Jedi.
As you’ll see, Moss shows off his Jedi martial arts skills in the clip as he effortlessly escapes Mae’s initial furious attacks. This is an exciting action sequence and it’s really cool to see Moss in action again!
During a previous interview, Moss spoke about joining the Star Wars franchise saying, “Leslie [Headland] he proposed it to me. I had seen his show Russian doll, he knew his artistry, was blown away by his vision and ability to execute.
“I was like, ‘I’m all in.’ When do I start?’ I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to add Star Wars to my resume. My personal CV – I don’t even mean the paper one. In my soul and spirit, being able to play this Jedi Master and train for combat was [an] extraordinary experience.
“I actually reawakened a part of me that had forgotten how much I love action. I love it. Personally I love to test myself. It’s a physical challenge, but it’s also a mental challenge. It helps you enter the world of the Jedi Master, with mental training.”
The Acolyte is described as “a mystery thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of dark secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 100 years before the start of the Skywalker Saga.
Steinberg plays a former Padawan and a dangerous warrior who is hunting and killing Jedi. In the story, “An investigation into a shocking crime spree confronts a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung Jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg).
“As new clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal that all is not what it seems…”
The Acolyte has received high praise from critics who have seen the first few episodes of the series, and that gives me hope that it will be really good.
The series is also the protagonist Manny Giacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margherita Levieva, Joonas SuotamoAND Amy Tsang.
The Acolyte it will consist of eight episodes directed by Headland, Garcia Lopez and Kogonada. The premiere is scheduled for June 4, 2024 on Disney+.
