A new series has been ordered on Amazon Prime, which will be a prequel to the hit film series, Legally blonde. The series, currently titled Ellewill follow the character of Elle Woods, played in the films by Reese Witherspoonand will take place in high school before Elle decided to pledge a sorority or enroll in law school.
The series’ plot states that it “follows Elle Woods through high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”
Witherspoon said in a statement:
“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will discover how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her own distinct personality and ingenuity, in a way that only our beloved Elle could. What could be better?! I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. “Legally Blonde” is back!”
The series comes from the creator Laura Kittrell, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Witherspoon executive produces alongside Lauren Neustadter via Hello Sunshine, a part of Candle Media. Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt will also serve as executive producers. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.

This looks like a fun series for fans of this franchise! I can’t wait to see what they do with Elle’s backstory.
