Teaser Trailer of David Cronenberg’s new film THE SHROUDS with Vincent Cassel and Guy Pearce

The director’s first teaser trailer has been shared David Cronenbergis the new film project The Shrouds. The film is inspired by the idea of reconnecting with the dead.

Movie stars Vincenzo Cassel, Diana Kruger, Guy PearceAND Sandrine Holt, and the story centers on a character named Karsh, “a prominent businessman. Inconsolable after his wife’s death, he invents GraveTech, a revolutionary and controversial technology that allows the living to monitor their deceased loved ones in their shrouds.

It is explained that “one night, several graves, including that of Karsh’s wife, are desecrated. Karsh sets out to track down the perpetrators.”

It was previously revealed: “Karsh’s revolutionary affairs are on the verge of entering the international mainstream when several graves in his cemetery are vandalized and nearly destroyed, including that of his wife.

“As he struggles to uncover a clear motive for the attack, the mystery of who caused this chaos, and why, will push Karsh to reevaluate his business, marriage, and loyalty to the memory of his late wife, as well as push him toward a A new start. “

Cronenberg spoke about the film explaining: “Most burial rituals are about avoiding the reality of death and the reality of what happens to a body. I would say in our film this is an inversion of the normal function of a shroud. Here, it is revealing rather than hiding.

“I was writing this film while experiencing the pain of losing my wife, who died seven years ago. For me it was an exploration because it wasn’t just a technical exercise, it was an emotional exercise.

In a way, the shrouds that my main character has invented are cinematic devices… They are creating their own cinema, a post-death cinema, a cinema of decadence. Before writing the screenplay, I was aware that the shrouds had a cinematic aspect, creating a strange tomb cinema, a cemetery cinema.”

The film will premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in France. It will then open in France in September later this year. No U.S. date is set yet.
