Hugh Jackman (Deadpool and Wolverine) AND Jodie Comer (Autumn boy) will be the protagonists of a new film about Robin Hood entitled The death of Robin Hood.
The film will be written and directed by Michele Sarnoski (Pig AND A quiet place: first day), and will give us a darker retelling of the classic Robin Hood story.
The film “will see the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battle-worn loner who finds himself gravely wounded and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.”
This is definitely a different take on the legendary character who stole from the rich to give to the poor.
Producer Alexander Black said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be part of this very special project and to work with a visionary director like Michael, a phenomenal cast like Hugh and Jodie, and to produce with our frequent collaborators, Ryder and Swett at RPC. “
RPC’s Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett added: “This is not the Robin Hood story we all know. Instead, Michael created something much more concrete and visceral.”
He continued: “Thanks to Alexander Black and our friends at Lyrical along with Rama and Michael, the world will love seeing Hugh and Jodie together in this epic.”
The film’s director said: “It was an incredible opportunity to reinvent and innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.”
He added: “Securing the perfect cast to bring the script to screen was essential. I couldn’t be more excited and confident that Hugh and Jodie will bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.
Production is expected to begin in February 2025.
