Here is the original trailer for Steven Spielberg AND Richard Donnerthe classic 1985 adventure film The Goonies.
There’s a chance some of you may have never seen this before and after I remembered it, I had to share it!
This video was taken from a rare 35mm promotional teaser trailer. It doesn’t reveal anything in terms of what the film was about, but it has fun building anticipation by playing on Donner and Spielberg’s previous cinematic successes.
I love how the film’s title is made up of logos from the director’s previous films. This is simply fantastic marketing!
The story follows a group of misfit kids, self-dubbed “The Goonies”, who reside in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon.
Facing foreclosure on their homes due to a country club’s expansion, the boys discover an old pirate map in the attic of one of their homes. This map kicks off an exciting adventure to discover the long-lost treasure of a legendary 17th century pirate, One-Eyed Willy.
As they embark on this daring adventure, they explore booby-trapped caves, befriend unlikely allies, and escape a family of criminals who are pursuing them.
