James Gunn says SUPERMAN’s flying visual effects will be more complex than what Adam Warlock handled

James Gunn he continues to spend his time replying to fans on social media instead of doing other cool and interesting things that I think he would do.

A fan recently contacted the director on social media and asked him about it Superman star David Corenswet originally auditioning for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In response to that question, he said, “I asked him and he said he did, so I believe him, but I don’t remember it.”

Gunn was also asked if we can expect the same type of visual effects work Superman was made to fly Adam Warlock in the Guardians movie.

The director then shared, “No, what we are doing now is more complex than what was done for AW.”

I’m actually intrigued by this answer. It’s not that we haven’t seen people fly in movies before, but I’m curious to see how Gunn handles the imagery of Superman flying. It will also be interesting to find out what this more complex way of making Superman fly entails.

Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman even stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane; Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaio, in the role of Eva Teschmacher; AND Terence Rosemore as Otis.

Superman The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
