Seth MacFarlane says he’s known the story of his upcoming film FAMILY GUY for 15 years, but didn’t have time to make it

Seth MacFarlane started his own hit animated series Family Guy way back in 1999. It’s still running on Fox, going strong with a 23rd season in the works, but some fans have wondered why after a successful spinoff in 2005 with Stewie Griffin: The Untold Storywe haven’t seen another movie set in Family Guy universe.

MacFarlane apparently always knew what the second film would entail, but cites lack of time as the reason he didn’t finish the project.

In a recent interview during a panel at PaleyFest (via The Wrap), the writer, creator and voice of Stewie Griffin himself, said, “I’ve known what that movie is going to be for the last 15 years and I just haven’t had it.” It’s time to get there, but I know what it will be.

Another film, which MacFarlane plans to release theatrically, has been in the works since 2007 and was announced in 2014, but ended quietly due to the filming of Ted 2.

MacFarlane said the story is “something you couldn’t do on the show, which… [to him] it’s the only reason to make a movie” and that he sees it as “an old-fashioned musical with dialogue”.

You hope to see a Family Guy movie at the cinema? Stay tuned for updates.
