Tom Felton he played Draco Malfoy for the duration of the eighth episode Harry Potter movie, and he played the part quite well. After all these years, the actor still looks back on his time in the franchise and shares his thoughts on it.
During a recent interview with US weekly, the actor talked about Draco’s arc in the film and what made his redemption so interesting. After all these years, fans see Draco in a new light.
Regarding this, Felton said: “I mean, obviously he’s a slimy guy, he’s not exactly the most desirable character sometimes. But it’s nice to see, yeah, it’s really, really nice to see the correlation between the fact that Harry didn’t have parents and the fact that he came out brilliantly with honor and love and respect and truth at the center of it all. .
She continued: “And Draco has both parents, but not as good, and he ended up being the bully because… you know, there’s so many different subtle arcs now that are being exposed, and I think that’s really cool. “
Felton concluded: “I think Draco’s redemption, a little redemption, I don’t think he was born to be a hero at all, but the slight understanding that he was a bully because he was basically being bullied is quite interesting.”
While you can’t really call Draco a hero, by the end of the story he’s not even the villain anymore. There were many opportunities that could have pushed Draco to become a full-fledged villain. I mean, he could have killed Dumbledore at one point! But he chose not to.
It just goes to show that not everything has to do with heroes and villains, some people are just in that gray area trying to figure things out.
