Brian Cox not a fan of Joaquin PhoenixNapoleon’s performance in Ridley Scotthistorical epic and during a recent interview with The Standard, he unleashed his unfiltered thoughts.
He said: “It’s terrible. A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It’s really scary. I don’t know what he was thinking. I think it’s totally his fault and I don’t think Ridley Scott helps him. I would have played him a lot better than Joaquin Phoenix, I tell you. You can say it’s a good drama. No, they’re lies.
Cox then joked about Phoenix’s name, saying: “I think it’s an appropriate name. Joaquin… wacky… wacky. It’s a kind of extravagant performance.”
The actor then jumped up Mel Gibson’s Brave heartnot his interpretation, but the story and how it was not historically accurate in any way.
Cox said: “Mel Gibson was wonderful but he’s a load of lies. He never got the French princess pregnant. She’s bullshit [sic] that movie.” The actor is simply not happy with how Hollywood is sacrificing historical accuracy for the sake of blockbuster cinema.
He didn’t stop there, and continued to criticize method acting, saying, “Oh no, that’s all bullshit. It’s kind of nonsense. We are transmitters. This is who we are as actors. We transmit energy.”
He added: “You have to do your homework. That’s the joy, the information you get because you’re reading all about Churchill and you’re building a picture of who this person was.
Cox doesn’t seem to care what he says these days! He’s just letting his true thoughts come out of his mouth and the rest of us can sit back and enjoy the show.
