More reactions have emerged for the upcoming MonsterVerse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and the reviews are a mixed bag. I have very low expectations for this film and one of the reactions says that it is “a noisy brawl between titans with almost no human heart to engage us on an emotional level”. Which is pretty much what I expected because that’s what we got from the last two films.
However, there are people who damn loved it describing it as an “Atomic Blast!”, “A fantasy rock opera” and “The funniest MonsterVerse film yet”.
Others describe it as “underwhelming,” “the human material is particularly clunky,” and “it misses more than it hits.” One of my favorite reactions goes, “This thing is so crazy colorful and toyy, it would shock Joel Schumacher.”
Check out the collection of reactions below and let us know what you think! Are you excited about this movie!?
#GodzillaXKong it’s a loud brawl between titans with almost no human heart to engage us on an emotional level. But audiences who come just for the fights are seeing a fantastic tag team match between Godzilla and Kong against Skar King and Shimo. #GodzillaxKongTheNewEmpire pic.twitter.com/oqEdpiWxEq

#GodzillaXKong It’s a really great King Kong movie. The human part is particularly clunky (poor Rebecca Hall is saddled with so much dry exposition) but Kong has so many scenes centered around him and I loved the big guy. And the final fight sequences are pure monster delight. pic.twitter.com/un2iVtHz8f

#GodzillaXKong it’s an ATOMIC EXPLOSION! A wonderfully strange and psychedelic journey through the Shōwa era with all the vibrancy of an 80s album cover. This thing is an absurd game: crimson apes, frost dragons, a deliciously absurd Dan Stevens. Another FUN entry in the MonsterVerse! pic.twitter.com/Qmzx8Jytug

#GodzillaXKong: The New Empire is disappointing. It feels like 90% ready for a final battle that’s solid but can’t live up to all that build-up.
There’s a new approach to the characters, which works, but it never quite melds with the main story. Dan Stevens however tears it up. pic.twitter.com/0PDPEB9P8I

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE rules. Dir. Adam Wingard fully embraces the tone of a fantasy rock opera, complete with a synth-heavy soundtrack, heavy metal imagery and killer ’80s embellishments.
Incredibly silly and sincere at times, it’s a heartfelt love letter to the Shōwa era. pic.twitter.com/bwRJvJdSpb

Godzilla When the Titans face off, the action is incredible but it’s not enough. It looks nice but unfortunately it misses more than it hits. #GodzillaXKong pic.twitter.com/L9qQYTHIzF

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the funniest MonsterVerse film ever made, one where everyone seems to have gotten the hang of it. The story is a little thin, but the destruction of the Titan more than makes up for it. #GodzillaXKong pic.twitter.com/gk8gDeYXhT

#GodzillaXKong hits a lot of sweet spots for me! Tons of wild kaiju action, a brutal villain for Kong, a powered-up Godzilla, Dan Stevens having fun, some legit surprises, and lots of color. Bring me more MonsterVerse! pic.twitter.com/eaxDkJwmnF

#GodzillaXKong it is an epochal spectacle that dazzles with its vibrant technicolor images. The epic battles between the titans are jaw-dropping and accompanied by a story with a gigantic heart. Plus, there’s Dan Stevens flexing in a Hawaiian shirt for 2 hours. pic.twitter.com/PsBMAdsQjH

#GodzillaXKong it’s like an 80s cartoon come to life; This thing is so insanely colorful and toyy that it would shock Joel Schumacher. He gathers a compelling coterie of non-humans in AVATAR meets PLANET OF THE APES, and as far as the humans are concerned, Dan Stevens is having fun. So was I! pic.twitter.com/0Gf1Wmh4re

#GodzillaXKong it’s non-stop, fun Kaiju action that monster movie fans love. Both Godzilla and Kong take center stage in this latest chapter of Legendary’s evolving Monsterverse.
Brian Tyree Henry and Dan Stevens have fun together. But this movie belongs to the giant monsters. pic.twitter.com/daJ3UyIbsW
