Kevin Bacon will return to Payson High School in Utah to celebrate the 40th anniversary of FOOTLOOSE

Free celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and, to celebrate, Kevin Bacon will be headed to Payson, Utah, where the film was filmed. Students at Payson High School have been campaigning for Bacon to attend this year’s prom, which will be the last at the school where the film was filmed because it will be demolished at the end of the academic year.

Bacon will come to visit them on prom day, but will not show off his dancing skills at the prom that night. He will join in the day’s festivities leading up to the ball and there is no doubt that everyone will have a great time! There is no doubt that Payson High will work hard to make this an unforgettable experience for Bacon and everyone in attendance.

The TODAY show arrived at the high school and that’s where Bacon announced his plans by calling from Atlanta as students filled the school gym. As you can imagine, the students burst into applause. Bacon said, “I was so impressed with everything that happened there that this crazy idea to let me come back.”

Bacon also thanked the student support of his SixDegrees.org charity, not to mention the efforts to make it appear: “I was amazed at the work that all of you put into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the recesses.

He added, “It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me, not to mention that you’ve tied into SixDegrees.org, our foundation, and are trying to find ways to give back to your community. It’s truly inspiring, so thank you. Thank you. And I’m about to come. I have to come.”

After the announcement, student Rubie Raff said, “Let’s dance! We will do it! This is spectacular!” Tio to which Bacon replied: “Thanks guys. Let’s dance.”

That’s really great of Bacon! I was actually in Payson, Utah. when all this happened while visiting family. Payson is a really cool little community that I love and it’s been great to see all the excitement!
