Spider-Verse star Shameik Moore he saw himself getting in trouble with his reaction to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse losing out on best animated film Hayao Miyazaki’S The boy and the heron at the Oscars.
The actor posted a word on X, “Robbed.” As you might imagine, fans were quick to criticize Moore, who plays Miles Morales in the animated franchise, pointing out that Miyazaki is a master of animation who directed a superior film.
When fans started lashing out at him, Moore posted a couple of subsequent responses, one calling himself a “sore loser” and another asking for forgiveness. He said:
“Respect to the winner. True, I’m definitely an underdog, but we didn’t lose, “Spider-Verse” impacted a LOT of lives. We may not have been recognized tonight, but life goes on, and BEYOND… yes, get ready.
One fan pointed out the classy response that Spider-Verse co-writer and producer Chris Miller had to recall the film’s Oscar loss, in which he said, “Well, if you’re going to lose, you might as well lose to the GOAT.” Moore responded by saying:
“You’re right, honestly the whole ‘Spider-Verse’ team is such a good sport. Very professional and I’m excited to see what comes of it. I’m young and a fighter, so forgive my nature. Congratulations to the winners.”
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse actually won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film in 2019, you don’t have to win them all and The boy and the heron he definitely deserved the victory. That said, it’s only human to be disappointed when you lose! It’s okay to feel demoralized! I get it, I always lose! There’s no reason to attack someone who feels a little disappointed after losing.
Miyazaki won two Academy Awards for the animated film and received his first Oscar The enchanted city.
