Hayden Christensen he recently thought back to the time he filmed the dark scene Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Anakin Skywalker massacred a group of young men. There was one young actor in particular who must have been terrifying for that scene, Ross Beadmannand to get the reaction George Lucas was looking for, Christensen had to let him have it.
While speaking to Empire Magazine about the intensity of the sequence and trying to get a truly fearful reaction from Beadman, Christensen said:
“The kids seem to forget about that scene when they meet me! There’s no fear or intimidation. They’re just excited to meet Anakin. There’s been a lot of talk about us doing that scene, and I love that George [Lucas] Done. It was a bold move. And it’s shocking.
“During the filming, we were struggling to get the reaction we wanted from the boy. And so I yelled, or growled at him, because we needed an authentic moment where he would be scared. He got the response that we needed, and yes that the scene works really well.”
Christensen eventually reunited with Beadman and amusingly admitted that he apologized for scaring the boy.
“I saw him again years later. I said, ‘I’m sorry about how she went.'”
You can’t hear the scream or growl, but you can definitely see Beadman’s reaction when Anakin ignites his lightsaber.
