Ryan Gosling will perform BARBIE’s song “I’m Just Ken” at the Academy Awards

It has been confirmed Barbie actor Ryan Gosling in fact, he’ll be performing his Oscar-nominated song, “I’m Just Ken,” at the upcoming Academy Awards show. While it’s common for musicians to appear at the show and perform the nominated song, it wasn’t confirmed for a while that Gosling would actually perform the performance himself that was the dream sequence in the film. It’s unclear whether he’ll recreate the dance number that accompanied the song, or do a stripped-down version of it on stage, but that’s all the more reason to tune in on March 10.

In his Variety cover story in early February, Gosling insisted that the Academy had not yet asked him to perform. “It might be too big of a risk for me to do it,” said Gosling, who is up for an acting Oscar for his work as Ken. “I don’t know how it would work. But I’m open.”

When asked if he could fill in for another singer if Gosling didn’t want to perform “I’m Just Ken” live during the Oscars, Ronson replied: “No. I think if Ryan doesn’t do it, then we won’t either.”

“I’m Just Ken” is one of the two Barbie songs that earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. The other is “What was I created for?” Of Billie Eilish AND Finneaswhich won the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media over “I’m Just Ken” and co Barbie hit “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa.
