As rumors circulate online that there is a nine-hour cut Avatara3, James Cameron wants you to know those rumors aren’t true and he passionately denied them during an interview with Temple of Geek. The director got straight to the point, saying:
“By the way, I can just shoot down something that is being propagated right now. There is no rough nine-hour version [of Avatar 3] … I would put a shotgun in my mouth if I ever did a nine-hour rough edit. No, what I said is nine hours of material, meaning Avatar 3, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – that’s three hours for one film. Somehow it turned into nine hours – can you imagine?
So, I’d say it’s a hard no to a nine-hour cut Avatara3. Rumors about this tentative version of the sequel began last year with a report suggesting there was nine hours of footage that could be released as a limited series on Disney+.
While Cameron isn’t doing a nine-hour cut Avatara3It’s funny to me that his response to the voice was, “I’d put a gun in my mouth if I ever did a nine-hour rough cut,” because the director only worked in the Avatars universe since 2006 and is still trying to make three or five more Avatars movie! So, in the end, he will have made 14 to 20 hours of Avatar film.
