Kevin Hart is producing an upcoming kidnapping thriller titled Can you hear me? and Power Rangers director Dean Israelite will direct the film from a script written by Taylor Anthony Hopkins (The last reverie) AND Luke Kelly-Clyne (Soft, Pessimistic).
Can you hear me? tells the story of a phone scammer who learns that his nephew has been kidnapped and must collect a sum of money to get him back.
Producer Bryan Smiley said in a statement: “Can you hear me? furthers Hartbeat’s commitment to investing in independent films and new genres. We are thrilled to work with the team at The Hideaway Entertainment, along with Taylor, Luke and Dean, to bring this project to life.”
Producer Matthew Rhodes added: “We are really excited to partner with Hartbeat and maintain our commitment to making original stories in the independent film arena. Dean Israelite has an exceptional vision and is making an intelligent, character-driven, forward-thinking film that will reach audiences around the world.”
Financed by The Hideaway Entertainment, the film’s producers are Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, Patricia Braga and Luke Kelly-Clyne for Hartbeat, along with Jonathan Gray, Matthew Rhodes and Kristy Grisham for The Hideaway. Ty Walker and Kevin Healey serve as executive producers for Hartbeat, along with Ryan Cassells for The Hideaway. Jen Cox is co-producing and will begin production this summer.
Israelite has also worked on films such as Project almanac for Paramount, Are you afraid of the dark? AND The astronauts. She is currently developing a sci-fi thriller titled Tartar hero John Boyega and the thriller Amblin Minotaurit is also related to spy thriller Rascal for STX films.
